I would dare say that if the snow/live load suggestion and the positive/negative wind loads suggestions were pulled out separate, they could both garner universal support from every RAM user. I was shocked when I started with my current company 13 years ago and started using RAM and found out that it didn't address either of those extremely common and basic analysis conditions.
I do use RAM Connection often for the anchor design with pedestals. RAM Connection is quite good, although I think it's a little conservative in the design. For example, I don't see an option to include perimeter reinforcing which could be helpful. It just gets cumbersome switching between different modules and software, especially when there is a change that requires rerunning to make the design current.
As for the pedestal in RAM Foundation, it just seems silly not to include it to be sure that it doesn't control the design. It would help if it designed the pedestal as well. The RAM Elements foundation module does a pretty good job with it. But again, switching between multiple programs to get a single design. It would be much better if all of this lived at the same place.
Most of those ideas are clear and a couple are in the early stages.
I have not seen recent requests for pedestal design in Ram Foundation. I'm curious, do you use Ram Connection for Base Plates? Do you find the pedestal design and reinforcement is more often controlled by the anchor pullout requirements or just the cantilever column design?
